ASPPA Eastern Regional Conference To Be Held May 9-10

Inside ASPPA

The 2019 Eastern Regional Conference will be held at the Doubletree Center City Hotel in Philadelphia on Thursday, May 9 and Friday, May 10. One of only two live regional conferences to be sponsored by ASPPA in 2019, the Eastern Regional Conference has been designed to educate retirement plan practitioners of all types and levels of experience on the latest developments in our industry.

At the request of many attendees at last year’s Conference, a larger meeting space has been reserved for everyone’s comfort.

The lineup of notable speakers includes Michael Schloss, the Regional Director of the Department of Labor, as well as Robert Richter, Kevin Donovan, Ilene Ferenczy, Bob Kaplan, Peter Gulia, David Levine, Tom Zych, Kelsey Mayo, John Fattibene, Rob Kaplan and Sue Diehl.

The conference will include:

  • general sessions covering the latest developments in Washington, at the IRS and the Department of Labor, and concerning the IRS’ Employee Plans Compliance Resolution System (EPCRS);
  • an Ask the Experts session;
  • an interactive 2 CE credit Ethics session (“Ethics Survivor”); and
  • breakout workshop sessions.

The breakout workshop sessions will cover:

  • missing participants;
  • litigation update;
  • cybersecurity and retirement plans;
  • fiduciary solutions in the marketplace;
  • controlled groups;
  • prohibited transactions;
  • 403(b) plan terminations and restatements;
  • compensation case studies;
  • cautionary tales in plan design; and
  • the Tax Cut and Jobs Act of 2017 and its impact on qualified plans.

Information on registration is available here, and hotel reservations may be made here. The early registration discount ends on April 5, and the hotel room block ends on April 8. Hotel rooms have sold out quickly for past conferences, so be sure to reserve your room as soon as possible.
